Technology
Our practice uses many state of the art technologies.
The flagship of our equipment is the K7 Computerized Evaluation System. This highly specialized equipment tracks jaw movements, records joint sounds, and measures head and neck muscle activity simultaneously. This evaluation system is invaluable to comprehensive treatment. We use this equipment to evaluate and treat bite problems, headaches, migraines and other head, neck, and dental problems.
We use this equipment in coordination with an Ultra Low Frequency- Transcutaneous Electronic Neural Stimulator (TENS). Despite the long name, this unit uses a small nine volt battery to apply stimulation to facial muscles that result in a small pulse of muscle contraction. (You may be familiar with TENS as higher frequency TENS units are used in physiotherapy.) After 45 to 60 minutes of use, this stimulation pulses and relaxes the muscles which assists us in determining an improved bite position. Patients find this process very soothing and comfortable.
Dr. Bonazza uses a state of the art Diode Laser by Sirona to do some of the treatment required on gum tissue. It is very accurate, virtually eliminates any postoperative bleeding and offers greater comfort than alternatives. We also use it to excise certain lesions and in the treatment of cold sores.
Other gum treatment is accomplished with the Ellman Electrosurgery Unit-DentoSurg 90 F.F.P. Typically this is used for excisional procedures.
We use the electrosurgery unit by Ellman. The Cavitron with SPS technology (Sustained Performance System) unit by Dentsply offers many features for improved ultrasonic debridement (cleaning). It uses finer tips for improved efficiency at lower settings which improves patient comfort and allows the operater better access with less trauma than the bulkier tips previously available. The machine has a foot switch that provides a pulse of power to remove more tenacious calculus. We have our machines matched with a Dual Select unit that allows us to use either a water rinse or an antimicrobial rinse, which is another adjunct to the resolution of periodontal conditions.
Our office uses both compressed air powered and electric powered handpieces by Sirona that are fibreoptically illuminated. Dr. Bonazza employs custom fitted 2.5X eyeglass magnification with headlamp illumination by Orascoptic (Kerr).
Dr. Bonazza employs various whitening techniques, one of which is the Zoom system by Discus Dental. It is an in-office system using tooth isolation, application of a whitening agent and activation with a customized lamp.
Many of the restorative materials used in dentistry are light cured, meaning that they are hardened by exposure to bright light. Industry standards are to use curing lights which illuminate at 400 wW/cm2. Dr. Bonazza uses the Bluephase light curing system by Ivoclar which provides light at 1,100wW/cm2. This provides deeper and more complete curing of materials.
We also use the Tulsa Aseptico Electric Motor AEU-17BTT to expediate treatment and provide improved cleaning of the canal system. It utilizes nickel titanium attachments turning at ultra slow rpm's with a clutch system to disengage if resistance is incurred.
Dr. Bonazza and his team strive to exceed your expectations and our investment in state of the art equipment is part of fulfilling that pledge.
