Here are some of your cosmetic options

Whitening
Tooth whitening is a simple and effective treatment for improving the colour of your teeth. We offer two techniques. The first is the Zoom system for in-office whitening in about 90 minutes. It also includes trays for use at home to continue the process. The second option is the home whitening process performed entirely by you in your own home, which after repeated applications is remarkably effective. Neither of these techniques will change the colour of fillings or crowns nor will it address problems of tooth position or shape.

Microabrasion
This treatment enhances the colour of superficially mottled or discoloured teeth. Often the discolouration of the tooth is limited to the most superficial enamel layers and slight reduction and repolishing of the tooth surface will make dramatic results. Microabrasion should be restricted to teeth with slight or moderate colour problems.

Tooth Reshaping/Recontouring
Some tooth position or rotation problems can be improved with this simple technique though it has obvious limitations. It is often used in combination with bonding.

Often smiles can be improved dramatically by reshaping gum contours. This is done most effectively and with minimal postoperative discomfort by use of a diode laser. The procedure can be done alone or in combination with one of the other cosmetic services.

Bonding/Composite Restorations
Composite restorative materials have improved immensely in recent years. They are used most often to treat teeth with decay or teeth that are chipped. However, they can be used more creatively to close spaces between teeth or add filling material to a tooth to reshape or reposition a tooth.

Porcelain Veneers
By far, the technique that provides the most dramatic and impressive results involves the use of porcelain veneers. This process is used to change the shape of teeth, to significantly reposition teeth and to whiten and beautify a smile. Porcelain is exceedingly strong and durable and allows us to make the most significant changes to your appearance. Our restorations are metal free as over time metal is known to cause a dark grey discolouration near the gum.

Overwhelmingly, my most enthusiastic and appreciative clients are those who have had multiple veneers (sometimes called a smile makeover).

The process begins, as all do, with a comprehensive examination followed by a consultation to discuss findings and options. Interested clients will select their smile options (from photo guides) and their tooth colour, have a wax model fabricated(preview of their final veneers) and possibly a digitally altered photograph prior to any treatment.

Often in two appointments clients can receive a spectacular new smile. Between appointments clients will have beautiful temporary veneers which are shaped similar to the final ones, allowing a trial period for feedback prior to finishing the smile. For teeth that are heavily restored, crowns will be substituted for veneers as they provide greater strength. Other options for replacing teeth are described under General Dentistry.
